As Trump’s administration now carries on Obama’s legacy, vowing to destroy WikiLeaks for engaging in publishing activities that are protected under the First Amendment, American people are slowly coming to see their own government’s dirty war that has been waged in their name.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange remains arbitrarily detained in the Ecuadorian embassy in London. As he is in a critical situation under a special protocol imposing prison-like surveillance, news emerged that shed light on the grave danger he has been facing. Last week, the Washington Post reported that the US Justice Department, in what appeared to be an error of cut and paste in their court filing, inadvertently disclosed criminal charges against Assange exist under seal.

Assange’s lawyer Jennifer Robinson responded to the revelation of a secret US government’s prosecution against the publisher, by noting that it confirms what Assange and his legal team have been suspecting. She pointed out how a criminal investigation into WikiLeaks started in 2010 in relation to disclosures made by WikiLeaks in partnership with other major newspapers revealing the evidence of US war crimes. She made it clear that this risk of his extradition to the US has been the reason why Assange sought and was granted asylum by Ecuador in 2012.

When the history of American foreign policy and the misery Washington has caused throughout its tenure as world policeman is written, Julian Assange and WikiLeaks will have many entries in the footnotes, not to mention the index. The publication of Chelsea Manning’s treasure trove of US diplomatic history – thousands of cables describing the interactions of US decision-makers with world leaders through the decades – alone gives WikiLeaks the title of most important journalistic outlet of the new millennium. And that is just the crown jewel in a diadem of journalistic triumphs – stinging exposures of the War Party and their corrupt enablers — no other outlet can hope to match. It is therefore with very little surprise that one reads the news that the Justice Department has secretly indicted Assange – and please pay special attention to how that has been revealed.

The New York Times had the scoop: in an unrelated case, the geniuses over at the Justice Department had mistakenly copied phrases from the secret indictment in publicly available court documents.

Why does Mother Jones claim that my advocacy of a pardon for embattled journalist Julian Assange is somehow news or a revelation? The assertion of Slate magazine that this advocacy could be legally problematic if I received allegedly hacked emails from Wikileaks, passed them to Donald Trump, and was now seeking this pardon to cover up a crime is moot. It’s simply bogus, especially in view of the fact that I received nothing… including allegedly hacked emails from Assange, Wikileaks, or anyone else.

This is how FAKE NEWS works. Mothers Jones and Slate are most definitely FAKE NEWS. The involvement of Mother Jones publisher David Corn passing a fabricated dossier to the FBI in furtherance of a conspiracy to abuse the power of the state and put the Trump campaign under illegal surveillance should be of greater interest to prosecutors than anything I have done.

It also demonstrates the stunning hypocrisy of the left. The same people who are praising the movie The Post, regarding the Washington Post’s publication of the classified Pentagon papers, now demand that Assange be arrested and prosecuted for publishing information embarrassing to the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton. Even the Obama DOJ concluded that if you prosecuted Assange, you would also have to prosecute the Washington Post /
New York Times / Wall Street Journal.

Yesterday’s Washington Post contains one of the shoddiest pieces of reporting that I have seen my 40 years in American Politics. The story by Carol D.Leoning, Manual Roig-Franzia and Rosalind S. Helderman is so rife with inaccuracies and material omissions that it must be dissected line -by-line to expose it’s dishonesty.

“In recent weeks, a grand jury in Washington has listened to more than a dozen hours of testimony and FBI technicians have pored over gigabytes of electronic messages as part of the special counsel’s quest to solve one burning mystery: Did longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone — or any other associate of the president — have advance knowledge of WikiLeaks’ plans to release hacked Democratic emails in 2016? “ It would be hard for me and other Trump associates not to know that Wikileaks had amassed substantial information on Hillary Clinton and planned to release it. Wikileaks Publisher Julian Assange announced it in an Interview on CNN in June of 2016, a fact known to the New York Times but omitted from this report.

‘While outwardly quiet for the last month, Robert S. Mueller III’s investigators have been aggressively pursuing leads behind the scenes about whether Stone was in communication with the online group, whose disclosures of emails believed to have been hacked by Russian operatives disrupted the 2016 presidential campaign, according to people familiar with the special counsel probe.”

The fake news media is in overdrive. The constant torrent of disinformation and manipulative ‘reporting’ from fake news outlets like the Daily Beast, Salon, Slate, and Talking Points Memo is as predictable as it is hysterical.

One would expect higher standards from the Wall Street Journal but, sadly, the Journal has now joined the perpetually-obtuse fake news lynch mob nipping at my heels with constant recycling of repeatedly-discredited claims of collaboration between me, Wikileaks, Julian Assange and the Russians.

In the 40 years that I have spent in American Politics, I have never seen a more hysterical lynch mob than the one at MSNBC, and other “Trump Hating” fake news sites. If you read the Washington Post, Salon or Vice, they would have you believe that I am on the verge of being indicted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for obtaining copies of the allegedly hacked DNC emails acquired and published by Julian Assange, and passing them to Donald Trump and his campaign.

The incomplete and carefully edited DM exchanges between me and a spokesman for WikiLeaks cited by the Atlantic prove conclusively that I had no advance knowledge of the content or source of WikiLeaks disclosures regarding Hillary Clinton. I had merely confirmed Julian Assange’s public claim that he had information on Hillary Clinton and he would publish it. The exchange provided to the Atlantic is incomplete and ridiculously out of context. The true copy of this exchange provided many months ago to the House Intelligence Committee demonstrates I had no ‘collaboration” with WikiLeaks. Assange himself said in an interview with Amy Goodman that I never tweeted anything he or WikiLeaks hadn’t said or written publicly. I have never claimed otherwise.
