Land Destroyer: The US Syria Withdrawal and the Myth of the Islamic State’s “Return” – Tony Cartalucci

February 7, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

At face value – the notion that the US occupation of Syria is key to preventing the return of the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS) to Syrian territory is unconvincing.

Regions west of the Euphrates River where ISIS had previously thrived have since been permanently taken back by the Syrian Arab Army and its Russian and Iranian allies – quite obviously without any support from the United States – and in fact – despite Washington’s best efforts to hamper Damascus’ security operations.

Damascus and its Russian and Iranian allies have demonstrated that ISIS can be permanently defeated. With ISIS supply lines running out of NATO-territory in Turkey and from across the Jordanian and Iraqi border cut off – Syrian forces have managed to sustainably suppress the terrorist organization’s efforts to reestablish itself west of the Euphrates.

Israel Running Risks in Trying to Exploit U.S. Exit from Syria – American Free Press – Richard Walker

In an effort to exploit the planned exit of U.S. special forces and mercenaries from Syria, Israeli officials are promising to continue bombing that country in violation of international law.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quoted as saying it would be business as usual, but he might want to consider the fact that Russia will not allow him free rein to bomb Syria as he likes. Russian President Vladimir Putin has made it clear to him that there are some lines he should not cross. One is killing or targeting Russian military personnel in Syria. Another is Russian personnel becoming collateral damage of Israeli attacks on other targets.

The White House decision to withdraw American troops from Syria as soon as possible may or may not be on track depending on whom one believes. But one thing that is for sure is that the recent suicide bomber attack in Manbij, Syria, which killed four Americans and has been attributed to ISIS, has inspired the opponents of the drawdown to renew their claim that the terrorist group is still an active threat to the United States. President Donald Trump is now being subjected to heavy bipartisan and media pressure to reverse his decision.

It is perhaps a coincidence that the attack should take place not long after the White House announcement of the withdrawal, thereby giving ammunition to those who wish to stay in Syria, admittedly illegally, for the foreseeable future. Or is it perhaps something else? Why, one must ask, did ISIS do something against its own interests by attacking Americans and thereby increasing the odds that U.S. armed forces would remain in Syria? Wouldn’t it have been preferable to just let the American military leave, thereby eliminating one enemy from the playing field?

Make No Mistake: ISIS Needs the U.S. to Survive | The American Conservative – Scott Ritter

January 20, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

“No war is over until the enemy says it’s over,” James Mattis, the former Marine Corps General and recently resigned secretary of state, is quoted as saying. “We may think it over, we may declare it over, but in fact, the enemy gets a vote.” Mattis’s statement was made in 2012, well before President Donald Trump, in a surprise announcement on December 19, declared victory over the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, better known as ISIS.

“We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency,” the president wrote. He later expanded on that sentiment in a video message, posted on Twitter. “Our boys, our young men and women, are coming home now,” Trump noted. “We won.”

Fox News joins the rat media’s relentless support for U.S. interventionist wars | Non-Intervention2 – Michael F. Scheuer

January 20, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

As if FOX’s Brian Kilmeade’s daily rant, and General Jack Keane’s periodic rants, in support of endless U.S. interventionist wars are not enough, yesterday FOX’s Dana Perino chimed in with an interview of a U.S. military veteran – I did not catch his name — about the 16 January 2016 attack that killed and wounded multiple U.S. military personnel and contractors in Syria. This attack reportedly has been claimed by the Islamic State’s (IS) media arm.

Perino was at her George W. Bush-butt-licking best, repeating his endless and mindless mantra that we must remain at war because we cannot let these U.S. personnel “die in vain”. The military veteran, off course, agreed with Perino, and then slipped into the same simpering, Bush/Perino-esque sentimentality, saying we cannot let these men “die in vain” and then wheeled out the Bush regime’s sadly durable lie that the war against the Islamists is a “long generational and ideological war” that cannot be won quickly. This maudlin hero of the battlefield finished by again repeating “they must not have died in vain”, meaning – based on his and Perino’s half-ass remarks – that the forever war against the Islamic State, al-Qaeda, and other Islamists must continue so “we can kill them over there and not here at home.”

Land Destroyer: The US Institute of Peace… Promotes Endless Syrian War – Tony Cartalucci

January 15, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

An “independent national institute founded by Congress and dedicated to the proposition that a world without violent conflict is possible,” would be the last place you would expect to find calls for continued war.

Yet the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) is just the place to go for exactly that.

In a recent article appearing on the USIP website titled, “What Does the U.S. Troop Withdrawal Mean for Syria?,” USIP’s senior adviser for Syria would claim the recently announced US troop withdrawal from Syria would “undermine U.S. interests in Syria and the broader region.”

Fat and skinny had a race, all around the Middle East; each fell down, lost still more face; and neither won the race.

The twin travels around the Middle East of Secretary of State Pompeo and national security adviser John Bolton would be high comedy, were killing and destruction some kind of game.  They are on tour to ’splain to U.S. vassal states what their boss really meant about withdrawing U.S. troops from Syria. (Psst. In case you haven’t heard, Trump didn’t really mean what he said.)

All the President’s Men Are Named Benedict or Arnold – Dave Hodges – The Common Sense Show

December 27, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

We have fighting in the Middle East that is being ignored by the MSM. The President is silent. Israel has grabbed the military mantle of power in the Middle East and only the Independent Media is reporting any of this.

The President’s staff is in chaos. He is undermined by Deep State traitors at every turn and the Americans wonder why Trump is so inconsistent. He is inconsistent because almost all of his advisers are named Benedict, Arnold or Jared Kushner.

The chaos of this administration was foretold in very accurate terms 7 months ago after the last Syrian false flag attack.

The CSS printed this following section back in May of this year. Please look at the emboldened text and count how many of these prognostications came to fruition?

Good Riddance to General Mattis and the Rest of Washington’s Mad Dogs of War – Antiwar.com Original – David Stockman

December 26, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

From the wailing and gnashing of teeth among the mainstream media and officialdom over General Mattis’ (welcome) departure, you would think that the Rapture had come and Washington’s ruling class was being unjustly left behind to eternal perdition. And if not that, then the Mattis Affair is alleged to be at least its secular equivalent – an unwarranted and unforgivable affront to the good and the brave of the Imperial City.

Then again, exactly what was so existentially harmful to America’s security about Trump’s decision to get out of Syria – the apparent reason for Mattis’ ballyhooed resignation?

The fact is, you can’t find a trace of threat to America on the map. Syria is now a tiny, broken country of ruin and rubble with a vastly diminished religiously and ethnically fractured population of 18 million; GDP of barely $60 billion; per capita income of only $3,000; a trickle of oil production (25k barrel/day); and a depleted and battle-ravaged military that cannot possibly operate outside of its own borders and barely controls the lands inside them.

“Deck the halls with boughs of holly,” goes the old Christmas carol. “‘Tis the season to be jolly.” Yet if there were a couplet less befitting the mood of this capital city, I am unaware of it.

“The wheels are coming off,” was a common commentary on the Trump presidency on Sunday’s talk shows. And the ostensible causes of what is looking like a panic in the political establishment?

The December crash of the stock and bond markets, the worst since the Great Recession. The shutdown of a fourth of the U.S. government over the Trump border wall. The president’s decision to pull 2,200 troops out of Syria. Resignation, in protest of Donald Trump’s treatment of U.S. allies, by Secretary of Defense James Mattis.

IT’S A BOILING POT ready to erupt and no one knows what the spoon will pull out.

And when it comes to ’sworn’ testimonies in midnight tweets, Trump’s policies digitized on Twitter are hard hunks to swallow.

Rand Paul might be the first to have the spoon stuck down his throat.

“Americans are tired of war,” Paul told CNN today regarding Trump’s tweeted Syrian pullout, “money spent on combat abroad is better spent on roads, bridges, and schools at home.”

Last April the senator specified that Trump confided that “We’re getting the hell out of Afghanistan” assuring him he’d be returning to the non-interventionist policies that he championed as a candidate.

Non-Intervention – At last, Mr. President, thank you for making the republic’s survival seem possible – Michael F. Scheuer

December 23, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

The great bulk of Americans, Mr. President, are ebullient over your decision to remove our troops from Syria, and soon from Afghanistan. Since the start of those two murderous misadventures, in 2001 and 2003, many American parents have welcomed home from war only dead; legless, blind, or armless; or mentally troubled children. No victories, no end of wasteful spending, no national government concern for dead, save for a few faux tears at Andrews Air Force Base, and no general officer competent – or, seemingly, willing — to lead our troops in a way that ensures America wins. Mr. President, the beginning of the end of the governing elite’s 70-years of military interventionism is a precious Christmas gift to Americans, their children, and their hopes for the republic’s recovery.

We never had a genuine national-interest reason for going to war in Iraq or Syria, and only justification for an annihilative, 15-18-month punitive campaign in Afghanistan. All those wars are now lost, which is the traditional manner of American war-making since V-J Day in 1945. You, Mr. President, have taken a large step to permanently ending military interventionism as the first option for presidents, their advisers, the Congress, and their senior civil servants. You also have laid down a marker to the U.S. corps of flag officers; namely, Americans have no time or respect for you if you do not win wars, or if you take U.S. troops to wars you know the president does not intend to win.

Will Trump Hold Firm on Syrian Pullout? | Patrick J. Buchanan – Official Website

“We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there,” wrote President Donald Trump, as he ordered the withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Syria, stunning the U.S. foreign policy establishment.

Trump overruled his secretaries of state and defense, and jolted this city and capitals across NATO Europe and the Middle East.

Yet, Trump is doing exactly what he promised to do in his campaign. And what his decision seems to say is this:

Is Trump Letting Al-Qaeda Sympathizers Survive in Syria? | The American Conservative

September 25, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

On September 13, 2018, two days after the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard addressed her colleagues from the floor of the House of Representatives. “Two days ago, President Trump and Vice President Pence delivered solemn speeches about the attacks on 9/11, talking about how much they care about the victims of Al-Qaeda’s attack on our country,” she observed. “But they are now standing up to protect the 20,000 to 40,000 al-Qaeda and other jihadist forces in Syria, and threatening Russia, Syria, and Iran with military force if they dare attack these terrorists.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson backed Gabbard’s statement by noting, “More than 10,000 rebels in [Idlib] province are believed to be aligned with Al-Qaeda. So that would mean that 17 years after 9/11, America could soon find itself bombing a country to protect al-Qaeda sympathizers. Why would we do that?”

The short answer is: Russia.

U.S. Again Cries ‘Chemical Warfare’ in Syria | The American Conservative

September 13, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

Author’s Update 9/12/18: The Syrian government, backed by Russian airpower and Iranian advisors, is preparing to undertake a major offensive designed to retake the province of Idlib from opposition forces. The newly appointed State Department Special Representative for Syria, Jim Jeffreys, claims that there is “Lots of evidence” that Syria is preparing to use chemical weapons, specifically chlorine gas, in support of the Idlib operation.

For its part, Russia claims to have specific intelligence that al Qaeda affiliates, working in conjunction with the White Helmet organization, is preparing to stage a chlorine gas attack designed to look like it was done by the Syrian government. The U.S. has warned that it would launch a major military strike against not only the Syrian government, but also Russian and Iranian targets in Syria, if chemical weapons were used in Idlib.

Washington’s Belligerence Can Produce A World Holocaust – PaulCraigRoberts.org

September 5, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

Recently I have been receiving a number of requests for my opinion of the Jewish holocaust. These requests are a puzzle to me as it is a topic unrelated to my commentaries on economics, law, current foreign affairs, and a looming showdown between Washington and Russia in Syria. I don’t know whether to be flattered that readers think that I know everything about everything, or whether these requests are efforts to set me up as a “Holocaust Denier,” a charge that can be used to discredit and close down my website.

The holocaust that I am interested in is the one that Washington’s aggression against Russia, aggression aided by Europe, is preparing for our future. This would not be a holocaust of a few million people but of a few billion and perhaps the entirety of planet Earth. I haven’t the time or energy to investigate the holocaust associated with the Second World War, but Ron Unz, a remarkable person and a Jew, whose website you should daily visit—http://www.unz.com — has, as an objective outsider, had a good look, and you can read it here: http://www.unz.com/runz/american-pravda-holocaust-denial/

Syria: Bolton’s ‘Damascus Chemical Weapons Plot’ Lacks Motive, Credibility – Land Destroyer

August 30, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

US National Security Adviser John Bolton – a tireless proponent of US-led war around the globe – has recently claimed the Syrian government is preparing to use chemical weapons to retake territory held by militants in northern Syria. In response, the US has already threatened to carry out military strikes against Syria.

Bloomberg in its article titled, “U.S. Warns Russia It Will Hit Assad If He Uses Chemical Arms, Sources Say,” claims:

Tensions between the nuclear powers flared after National Security Adviser John Bolton told his Russian counterpart, Nikolai Patrushev, that the U.S. has information Syrian President Bashar al-Assad may be preparing to use chemical weapons to recapture the northwestern province of Idlib from rebels.

Land Destroyer: US Warmachine Seeks New Pretext in Syria

US designs in Syria were made crystal clear by US Army General Joseph Votel – head of US Central Command (CENTCOM) – during a July 19th press briefing General Votel would state unequivocally when asked what the “arrangement” was regarding Syria, that:

Our mission is very, very clear: It is focusing on the defeat of ISIS and then helping our partners in both Iraq and Syria stabilize the situation and specifically in Iraq to help create a platform that can lead to a long-term political solution through the U.N. process.

Several aspects of this statement make it clear what the US was doing in Syria to begin with, and what it seeks to do now.
