The Hi-Tech Threat – Antiwar.com Original

A number of conservative commentators, notably Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham, have raised the alarm over the so-called Hi-Tech Threat, i.e. the threat to free speech posed by a censorious Silicon Valley liberal elite which seems intent on eliminating all evidence of right-leaning opinion on their platforms. And those platforms have achieved near monopolistic status, with Google controlling 85 percent of the online advertising market, Facebook enjoying similarly hegemonic status insofar as news delivery, and Twitter rounding out the equation with its increasing claim to the title of America’s town square.

Yet these conservative commentators are ostensible champions of the free market: do they really want the government to take over the internet? This is the question “progressives” are asking, somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but that’s because they don’t understand the Internet, the history of government regulation of the Internet — or, indeed, anything at all.

The reality is that the hegemonic position of the Hi-Tech giants wasn’t achieved due to anything remotely resembling the “free market” – and the solution has nothing to do with a government takeover of the Internet.,

Apple, Google, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter Subvert the US Constitution, Free Speech, and American Liberty – PaulCraigRoberts.org

The coordinated attack on widely watched Info Wars host Alex Jones by Apple, Facebook, Google/Youtube, and Spotify is all the proof that we need that the total failure to enforce America’s anti-trust laws has produced unaccountably powerful firms that are able to exercise far more censorship, not only in America but also abroad among Washington’s vassal states, than the Nazi Gestapo or Stalin’s NKVD were ever able to achieve.

Recently the progressive Rob Kall and I discussed on his show the implications of a trillion dollar company, which Apple now is. A day or two afterward, Rob Kall wrote an article on his website OpEdNews in which he made a case that a trillion dollar company had too much power for our continuation as a free people. I agree with him. Only 16 countries out of 195 countries in the world, a mere 0.08 percent, have a GDP equal to or larger than one trillion dollars.

I went to Speakers Corner on Sunday for one reason. Because others could not. – HopkinsWorld – Katie Hopkins

Two enthusiastic young people known for their outspoken views were barred from entering the U.K. and held in a detention center. One is Austrian, the other American. The reason? To prevent future hate speech as yet unsaid; silenced to avoid offending local communities in the U.K.

The third — a young Canadian — was hauled off a bus at Calais, detained and deported. Her crime? Making fun of Islam during a previous visit to the U.K. She questioned: “Is Allah gay?”

A fourth met the same treatment — detained at the airport in the UK and deported. His crime? He had a copy of the speech for Speakers Corner in his bag. Just more harmless words, again, as yet unsaid. You can read them for yourself if you like — it was a speech that was going to be delivered by Tommy Robinson the next day in Hyde Park.

#StandAgainstCensorship by taking action: 10 powerful things you can do NOW to take back your freedom from the “techno tyrants” – NaturalNews.com

Your ability to speak freely is under extreme assault as YouTube, Facebook, Google and Twitter are now pursuing the most outlandish censorship purge they’ve ever attempted. (They’re going for broke to desperately try to control the narrative on everything…)

At stake is our very democracy, for without the ability to engage in public debate that’s free from interference by the tech giants, we no longer have the knowledge base from which a sustainable democracy can exist at all. Censorship is tyranny, and it is by definition anti-democratic. Censorship by the tech giants is a form of bullying aimed at selected political targets to silence their views and expel them from public discussion or debate.

The Corporate War on Free Speech – Taki’s Magazine

Some have suggested that the tech giants represent illegal monopolies and thus require government regulation to allow access for dissident opinions.

They can’t shut everyone up. At least they can’t if a substantial number of you are willing to keep talking. The fact that they’re trying so frantically to silence you is not evidence that they are confident in their own beliefs, but that they deeply fear your beliefs. Play on that fear. Don’t let these psychotic and sadistic control freaks frighten you into shutting your mouths.

YouTube Hits Infowars With Third Strike as Free Speech Purge Goes Nuclear – Old-Thinker News

Alex Jones explains the real agenda behind the censorship after Infowars was hit with a third strike on its YouTube channel and faces deletion.

After one strike was removed earlier in the week, YouTube hit the Alex Jones Channel with a third strike for a video that had already been appealed and restored.

YouTube’s flagging system is clearly being abused in a flagrant effort to shut down Infowars following a public campaign by CNN.

Can You Protect Democracy by Destroying Free Speech? | The Daily Bell

Political retribution for free speech is not a conspiracy theory. It happened. The IRS targeted people who donated to nonprofits for limited government causes. So you can understand why certain donors to non-profits want to keep their identities hidden. A non-profit sued the state of New York arguing that regulations requiring non-profits to disclose their donors create a “climate of fear” that could chill free speech. But the court rejected their argument. They ruled nonprofits must disclose their donors.

Campus Book Burning Nazis

November 17, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

Academia has reached a new low. The fabric of scholarship has been attacked from within and defenders of Free Speech are nowhere to be found from the University hierarchy. Has anything been learned since the heady days of 1960’s campus confrontations? It seems that the only learning process that has survived is that the caliber of intellectual acumen has sunk into the thrones of totalitarian hysteria. A refresher course is needed for all those too young to recall the Origin of Free Speech Movement at Berkeley celebrated 50 years later.
