Remembering Memorial Day
The following is a response to a certain Mr. Johnson, who's historical recollection is faulty, at best.
Remembering Memorial Day
Although the sentiment is appreciated by those of us who served, the historical inaccuracies set forth by Mr. Johnson are astounding!
It is about the year 1861, when one nation became two nations. The United States Congress would recognize this war between Americans as "The War Between the States." Since the end of that war in 1865, the Confederate Battle Flag has become the blood brother of the flag of the United States as the south has fought with her brothers and sisters to keep this nation free.
First of all, the United States Congress is the biggest thief of liberty and collection of idiots on the planet. The South did not go willingly, hand in hand, with the Federals after the war. We were humiliated, stripped of our rights, had our state governments thrown out of office and constitutions changed by scallywags, and forced into the military by economics that keep the South on the edge of privation, even today. In most of the world at that time, it was called impressed service.
It is about February 1898 when the United States battleship Maine was blown up in Havana Harbor with 300 dead.
How this completely debunked assertion is still flying around is a mystery, to me. The coal dust accumulation, in the bunker, finally reached critical saturation and exploded. This can happen with dust of any substance, including common household dust. It has blown grain silos into launch mode more than once. The Northeastern elite wanted a war and they got it by subterfuge. Even Teddy Roosevelt, and his gang of elite drunks, said, “What we need is a splendid little war.” to raise his political fortunes.
It is about Sunday, December 7, 1941, and the first word of the attack on Pearl Harbor came over the radio. That Sunday would be called a "day of infamy."
I have no intentions of defending the Japanese or the Nazi regime but, Roosevelt knew full well an attack was coming. He engineered it by US economic policies and embargos. He wanted what the bankers wanted, war for profit and an end to the depression.
It is about those who died in Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Every one of those “wars” was fought without a declaration of war and were based on Presidential lies. To wave a flag over them is disrespect to those forced to fight them because of political incompetence and active treason and implementing regime change to put our own despots in power. Please show me that article in the Constitution that demands this, I can’t seem to find it.
It is about September 11, 2001, when our nation was once again attacked.
Who attacked us? Yes, there was a great loss of life, by a criminal act. You declare war against nations, not nouns. To fight an unending “war on terror” is as foolish as putting out a fire with gasoline. The current administration is the least truthful administration I have witnessed in my lifetime. By attacking a sovereign country that had not attacked us, and had no capacity to do so, we now face escalating fuel costs. Those escalating costs drive up the price on every commodity we use. They didn’t directly raise our taxes but the end result is, government is the beneficiary of increased sales and Ad Valorem taxes. Everything government has done, in 2006, has been done to destroy the Constitution and, most assuredly, the Bill of Rights.
Remember the soldiers but don’t for a minute believe we were fighting to preserve your “freedoms.” Preserving your “freedoms” is your responsibility, via the political process, and you are failing at that responsibility, miserably.
We were fighting to stay alive and bring as many of our comrades home, whole, as we could. The people of the US should be ashamed that they haven’t the intestinal fortitude to throw both warmongering parties out of office but, I guess, war is like the NFL super bowl. If you don’t have to fight it, it is easy to shout “support the Troops” and wave a damned flag. “Support the Troops” is nothing but false nationalism and saying the President can do any damned thing he wants. A pox on him and those that support this madness.
