Liberty Has Lost Its Protection – PaulCraigRoberts.org

July 4 should be a day of mourning.  The rights our ancestors fought for have been taken away.

Over the course of my lifetime there has been a fundamental shift in the attitude of the judiciary toward Constitutional rights.  I remember when guarding against any diminishing of constitutional rights was considered more important than convicting another criminal. There were cases in which the evidence needed in order to convict a person could not be collected, or used if collected, because it violated constitutional rights.  There are many instances of criminals walking free because police, prosecutors, and trials violated their rights.  Much of the unthinking public would be enraged, because judges let a criminal off.  The public were unable to understand that the judges were protecting their rights as well as the criminal’s.

This is an age old problem.  In Robert Bolt’s play, A Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More, Chancellor of England, is criticized for refusing to bend the law in order to better pursue criminals. Sir Thomas asks his critic, if I cut down the law in order to pursue devils, what happens to the innocent when authority turns on them?  This question formerly had a powerful presence in the courtroom.

Memo to Trump: Trade Bolton for Tulsi – Patrick J. Buchanan – Official Website

June 29, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

“For too long our leaders have failed us, taking us into one regime change war after the next, leading us into a new Cold War and arms race, costing us trillions of our hard-earned tax payer dollars and countless lives. This insanity must end.”

Donald Trump, circa 2016?

Nope. That denunciation of John Bolton interventionism came from Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii during Wednesday night’s Democratic debate. At 38, she was the youngest candidate on stage.

Gabbard proceeded to rip both the “president and his chickenhawk cabinet (who) have led us to the brink of war with Iran.”

Trump’s gunning for the Neocons and Israel-Firsters, just as they are, literally, gunning for him | Non-Intervention2 – Michael Scheuer

June 29, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Having watched nearly three-years of Donald Trump working, haltingly but stubbornly, to reestablish the great and republic-preserving pillars of American foreign policy — non-intervention and neutrality — it is clear that the trail toward those goals is long, winding, and, far too often, a process that yields two steps forward and one step back.

It was most encouraging to see Trump let the Neocons – especially Bolton, Abrams, Pompeo, and such of their mouthpieces as Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin, and Bill Kristol – make perfect jackasses of themselves via their botched handling of the none-of-America’s-business Venezuela problem. These wretches thereby showed Americans how desperate they are for war, and how utterly useless they are in the conduct of a U.S. foreign policy that serves the republic’s only genuine foreign-policy goals; peace; few if any foreign political and/or military entanglements; a deterring military, capable – in mind, skills, and material – of total victory in the rare cases that demand war-fighting; freedom of the seas for trade and prosperity, and the maintenance of full sovereignty and independence of action.

NSA Again Exposed For Unauthorized Collection Of Americans’ Phone Records | Zero Hedge

June 29, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Yet again, the National Security Agency has been exposed for “accidentally over

collecting” call-record metadata of millions of Americans. According to a WSJ report that relied on documents obtained by the ACLU, the NSA received metadata records from an unnamed phone company that the agency hadn’t been authorized to collect.

According to the report, it’s unclear how the overcollection occurred, but the incident took place after the NSA said it had purged hundreds of millions of metadata records it had amassed since 2015 in a separate overcollection episode.

For those who aren’t familiar with the concept, “Metadata” include the numbers called or texted and the associated time stamps, but not the contents of the conversation.

He found more intellectual inspiration in the Old Right, people like John T. Flynn, Albert J. Nock, Frank Chodorov, Isabel Paterson, and other mid-20th century figures who defended the vision of a constitutional republic and protested the progressive leviathan’s despotic powers at home and abroad. Justin was especially influenced by novelist Garet Garrett, who saw Franklin Roosevelt’s presidency as a revolutionary development that gutted American freedom while leaving the superficial form of the Constitution intact, and who was perhaps “even harsher” in opposing Truman’s Cold War imperialism. Justin regarded the irreconcilable conflict between interventionists and traditionalists as the defining struggle over the heart and soul of American conservatism.

Because of his strong antiwar views, Justin also supported Pat Buchanan three times in his run for President of the United States: 1992, 1996, and 2000. In 2000, Justin gave the nominating speech for Pat Buchanan at the Reform Party convention in Long Beach. It can be seen here from 1:19:00 to 1:32:02.

Hugely influential forum locked down after a single complaint from a left-wing journalist.

Reddit has quarantined the hugely popular ‘The Donald’ forum on the night of the first Democratic presidential debates in yet another flagrant example of Big Tech election meddling.

Users attempting to access the forum are met with a warning message asking them “are you sure you want to visit this community?”

“The_Donald has officially been quarantined by Reddit. They waited until the election to totally suppress us,” tweeted the forum’s owner.

2019 Could Be The Year That A War With Iran Changes Everything, And 2 Key Deadlines Loom Within The Next 2 Weeks – End Of The American Dream – Michael Snyder

June 27, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Negotiations with Iran are over before they could even take place.  After President Trump and Iranian leadership exchanged more insults on Tuesday, the Iranians declared that the “channel of diplomacy” is now closed “forever”.  Of course anything is possible in the future, but for now it appears that any possibility of a diplomatic solution is completely dead, and the clock is ticking because two exceedingly important deadlines are coming up within the next two weeks.  President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have both made it incredibly clear that they do not want Iran to possess nuclear weapons, and Iran’s nuclear program is about to pass a critical threshold.  Diplomatic negotiations were the only alternative to military action, and now it seems that military action is the only option left on the table.  That means that we could literally be counting down the days before missiles start flying back and forth, and it will be a war that is far more terrible than we are being told by the mainstream media.

What ever happened to the radical conservative? | The Daily Bell – Joe Jarvis

June 27, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Remember when radicals would tar, feather, and pour boiling hot tea down tax collectors’ throats?

Or commit civil disobedience on a massive scale by throwing thousands of pounds of tea (worth about a million dollars today) into Boston Harbor because of a couple of cents worth of taxes…

These are the radicals conservatives cite today who allegedly inform their political opinions. These are the guys who warned us against a standing army and shot British soldiers rather than surrender their arms.

Yet today conservatives are more likely to support the police than to see them as the standing army the Founders warned against.

The Rutherford Institute :: How Evil Wins: The Hypocritical Double Standards of Political Outrage | By John W. Whitehead |

June 27, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

We’ve got to get our priorities straight if we are to ever have any hope of maintaining any sense of freedom in America. As long as we allow ourselves to be distracted, diverted, occasionally outraged, always polarized and content to view each other—rather than the government—as the enemy, we’ll never manage to present a unified front against tyranny (or government corruption and ineptitude) in any form.

Mind you, by “government,” I’m not referring to the highly partisan, two-party bureaucracy of the Republicans and Democrats. Rather, I’m referring to “government” with a capital “G,” the entrenched Deep State that is unaffected by elections, unaltered by populist movements, and has set itself beyond the reach of the law.

This is the hidden face of a government that has no respect for the freedoms of its citizenry.

Trump: War President or Anti-Interventionist? – Patrick J. Buchanan – Official Website

June 26, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

As for the U.S. charge that Iran is “destabilizing” the Middle East, it was not Iran that invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, overthrew the Gadhafi regime in Libya, armed rebels to overthrow Assad in Syria, or aided and abetted the Saudis’ intervention in Yemen’s civil war.

Iran, pushed to the wall, its economy shrinking as inflation and unemployment are rising, is approaching the limits of its tolerance.

And as Iran suffers pain, it is saying, other nations in the Gulf will endure similar pain, as will the USA. At some point, collisions will produce casualties and we will be on the up escalator to war.

The Diminishing American Economy – PaulCraigRoberts.org

June 26, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Since June 2009 Americans have lived in the false reality of a recovered economy.  Various fake news and manipulated statistics have been used to create this false impression.  However, indicators that really count have not supported the false picture and were ignored.

For example, it is normal in a recovering or expanding economy for the labor force participation rate to rise as people enter the work force to take advantage of the job opportunities.  During the decade of the long recovery, from June 2009 through May 2019, the labor force participation rate consistently fell from 65.7 to 62.8 percent.  LINK

Another characteristic of a long expansion is high and rising business investment. However, American corporations have used their profits not for expansion, but to reduce their market capitalization by buying back their stock.  Moreover, many have gone further and borrowed money in order to repurchase their shares, thus indebting their companies as they reduced their capitalization!  That boards, executives, and shareholders chose to loot their own companies indicates that the executives and owners do not perceive an economy that warrants new investment.

Mexican Media Elites Lighten Up On Trump—Rank-And-File Mexicans Agree With Him And Want Guatemala Border Closed! | VDARE.com – Allan Wall

June 26, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

As I reported two weeks ago, Mexican elites don’t like the deal. They argue that AMLO capitulated to Trump, that it forces Mexico to do our dirty work, and that Mexico should let migrants pass through.

But rank-and-file Mexicans don’t necessarily agree. They’re as fed up with illegal immigration as we are.

Thus Mexico’s equivalent to the Wall Street JournalEl Financiero, asked 410 adults, June 14-16, about the tariff-immigration deal, then other general questions about immigraiton [Aumenta el rechazo ciudadano a migrantes en México y crece apoyo el cierra de la frontera (Citizen Rejection of Migrants in Mexico Increases and Support for Closing the Border Grows), by Alejandro Moreno, June 20, 2019]

Google pulls videos accusing it of election manipulation from YouTube… which it owns — RT USA News

June 26, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Google’s video platform YouTube is apparently no place for content that accuses the tech giant of political bias and election meddling. An expose based on a sting operation was taken down by the company a day after its release.

The online behemoth found itself in the crosshairs of Project Veritas, a conservative action group that purports to expose pro-liberal biases at various American organizations through sting operations and by publishing leaked material. Its report on Monday claimed that Google deliberately tweaks its search algorithms to promote liberal agendas that it favors, and that this is intended to help “prevent the next Trump situation” in the upcoming elections.

YouTube, the world’s most popular video sharing platform, which is owned by Google, soon took down the videos that were uploaded by Project Veritas, its head James O’Keefe reported. The footage was removed “due to a privacy claim by a third party,” a message now tells anyone trying to view it.

Trump regime hawks seek anti-Iran coalition for war | Intrepid Report.com – Stephen Lendman

June 26, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Consider the irony. Israel and the Saudis are the region’s most belligerent states. Iran is the Middle East’s most prominent proponent of peace and stability, a nation to be embraced and respected, not demonized the way the US mistreated it since its 1979 revolution.

US actions threaten everyone everywhere, Trump the latest in a long line of US warrior presidents. “…I have so many targets you wouldn’t believe,” he roared on Meet the Press, adding, “We have targets all over” ready to strike. Claiming he “knocked out the caliphate in Syria…100%,” ignored US support for ISIS and other terrorist groups it created.

Google Is Gearing Up To Defeat Trump In 2020 – The New American – R. Cort Kirkwood

June 25, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

A new exposé from Project Veritas shows that Google is working to defeat Donald Trump in 2020.

Project Veritas published documents from Google that demonstrated its anti-conservative bias, as well as video of a top Google executive who admitted the globe-straddling tech behemoth will use its Artificial Intelligence technology to stop Trump’s re-election.

And yet another whistleblower told Project Veritas that what Google means by “fairness” isn’t what users mean, and the anti-Trump work at the company includes rigging the auto-complete feature of its search engine to favor the hard left.

How to Start an Unnecessary War, by Philip Giraldi – The Unz Review

June 25, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Trump was not elected necessarily to create jobs or provide clean water, to make international trade more fair, or to pay attention to the weather. He was elected on two issues. The first was immigration, which energized folks in working class communities who were watching the America they grew up and the jobs that sustained it disappear in a confrontation with an unassimilable wave of mostly Latin American illegal immigrants. Trump promised to put a stop to the flow of immigrants across the border by building a wall if necessary while also catching and deporting illegals currently in the country.

The second issue was foreign policy, and more specifically the termination of the never-ending war legacy that Trump inherited from George W. Bush and Barack Obama, which motivated people like myself to vote for him. He exploited legitimate concerns over “Hillary the Hawk” and promised to disengage from existing conflicts in Afghanistan and Syria while more-or-less pledging not to get involved in further democracy promotion or regime change.

The Democratic Party, the oldest party on earth, was from its founding to the final third of the 20th century, the bastion of slavery, secession and segregation.

“Apologize for what? Cory should apologize. He knows better. There’s not a racist bone in my body.”

Thus did a stung Joe Biden answer rival Cory Booker’s demand he apologize for telling contributors, in a southern drawl, “I was in a caucus with James O. Eastland, He never called me ‘boy.’ He always called me ‘son.”

George Orwell’s Dystopian Nightmare in China | The American Conservative – Kelley Beaucar Vlahos

Orwell’s dystopian vision, first published 70 years ago this June, was informed by the fascist and communist movements that triggered worldwide military conflict and the deaths of millions of people during the mid-20th century. But Orwell’s warning went well beyond the wars we knew. It cautioned, noted Erich Fromm in an afterword in the 1961 edition, against the loss of humanity and free thought, and the new, increasingly centralized “managerial industrialism, in which man builds machines which act like men and develops men who act like machines.” It showed how that could be used as a tool of totalitarian ambitions.

Racial Reparations another Version of Slavery

June 25, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Racial neutrality was becoming an entrenched aspect in the populist general culture. Yet, the faction of continuing tribal dissention, once again, raised its Identity discontent to keep and widen the gap among varied sub groups. Slavery has never been limited to people of African descent. But to suffer through the repetitive diatribe that Blacks deserve sole recompense for their distress because of the color of their skin is offensive to any advocate of sincere social justice. By any objective standard the last half century since the racial riots that burned urban centers of rebellion; the advancement of Afro-Americans improved in most aspects. Those who assimilated into the mainstream culture usually shared the benefits of unification. However, the lingering resentment that eats away at achieving civil co-existence is brought up whenever it is politically opportune for the power hungry race baiters.
