Kavanaugh Confirmation Circus: Leftist Dems at Their Most Obnoxious

September 6, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

In a scene more reminiscent of an English soccer match and the accompanying hooligans than the U.S. Senate, the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh got off to a raucous start on Tuesday. Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) had not completed his first full opening sentence before being interrupted by leftist darling Kamala Harris (D-Calif.). The first hour of the hearing consisted of petty squabbling between Democrats and Grassley. In all, Democrats interrupted the first hour of the hearings nearly four dozen times.

“This is something I have never gone through before in 15 Supreme Court nominations,” Grassley said. “I was interrupted before I got a chance to say the agenda for today.”

Democrats, however, thought that the tactics were justified. “We cannot possibly move forward,” Harris said. “We have not had an opportunity to have a meaningful hearing.”

The left is very close to having a governing majority due entirely to immigration. Despite the promise of the Trump campaign, there isn’t much standing in their way. Now, they’re just running out the clock. Soon, we will have admitted so many immigrants that it will be too late to do anything.

Although liberals pretend to have no idea where conservatives got the idea that immigration was designed to change the country and bring in new voters, they weren’t always so modest.

Pentagon Plans to Deploy Space-Based Missiles

The Pentagon is studying the deployment of space-based missiles and new sensors to counter the growing threat of high-speed missile attacks from China and Russia, senior defense officials said Tuesday.

Michael Griffin, undersecretary of defense for research and engineering, said a network of 1,000 missile interceptors deployed on satellite launchers, could be built for $20 billion—not at a cost of hundreds of billions as critics of space weapons assert.

Griffin, a long-time missile defense expert, said missile threats are increasing and space-based defenses are needed to counter the threats.

The Hi-Tech Threat – Antiwar.com Original

A number of conservative commentators, notably Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham, have raised the alarm over the so-called Hi-Tech Threat, i.e. the threat to free speech posed by a censorious Silicon Valley liberal elite which seems intent on eliminating all evidence of right-leaning opinion on their platforms. And those platforms have achieved near monopolistic status, with Google controlling 85 percent of the online advertising market, Facebook enjoying similarly hegemonic status insofar as news delivery, and Twitter rounding out the equation with its increasing claim to the title of America’s town square.

Yet these conservative commentators are ostensible champions of the free market: do they really want the government to take over the internet? This is the question “progressives” are asking, somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but that’s because they don’t understand the Internet, the history of government regulation of the Internet — or, indeed, anything at all.

The reality is that the hegemonic position of the Hi-Tech giants wasn’t achieved due to anything remotely resembling the “free market” – and the solution has nothing to do with a government takeover of the Internet.,
