The Rutherford Institute :: Government Eyes Are Watching You: We Are All Prisoners of the Surveillance State |

June 18, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

First broadcast in America 50 years ago, The Prisoner—a dystopian television series described as “James Bond meets George Orwell filtered through Franz Kafka”—confronted societal themes that are still relevant today: the rise of a police state, the freedom of the individual, round-the-clock surveillance, the corruption of government, totalitarianism, weaponization, group think, mass marketing, and the tendency of humankind to meekly accept their lot in life as a prisoner in a prison of their own making.

Perhaps the best visual debate ever on individuality and freedom, The Prisoner (17 episodes in all) centers around a British secret agent who abruptly resigns only to find himself imprisoned and interrogated in a mysterious, self-contained, cosmopolitan, seemingly tranquil retirement community known only as the Village. The Village is an idyllic setting with parks and green fields, recreational activities and even a butler.

While luxurious and resort-like, the Village is a virtual prison disguised as a seaside paradise: its inhabitants have no true freedom, they cannot leave the Village, they are under constant surveillance, their movements are tracked by surveillance drones, and they are stripped of their individuality and identified only by numbers.

At the end of the last year of our first “anchor baby” president, he allowed over 65,000 children to invade our borders.  He watched them, in conjunction with Mexico’s president, who helped that massive entourage—-stampede into our country.  When not stopped by our U.S. Border Patrol at the border and turned back because of our “anchor baby” president’s orders to disregard our laws, we, the American taxpayer paid for 65,000 new illegal alien children as to schooling, food, housing and medical care. Many united with their illegal alien parents.  That’s on top of the 350,000 anchor babies we pay for annually because Congress won’t stop the practice.  Remember: you and every working person in the USA pays for those babies from K through 12, along with food, housing and medical care.  We’re talking billions if not trillions of dollars over the decades!

Because our past five presidents, along with successive U.S. Congresses, failed or refused to enforce and secure our borders with our current laws, (can you imagine the payoffs and benefits big business paid them not to enforce our laws for the past four decades?), we face an accelerating onslaught of the world’s poor, desperate and illiterate.

The Death of Independence

June 18, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

July 4th has been the national birth date since the inception of the country. Americans want to celebrate past glories because there are few reasons to believe that the current government or society is worthy of rejoicing. Deifying the Founding Fathers and their wisdom usually is rooted upon the construction of a constitution based on separations of powers and shared authorities with individual states. Lost in this commemoration is the concept of true and lasting independence.

While the Trump administration has been making astonishing headway in bringing peace to the Korean peninsula, in the Middle East they are making huge errors that will come back to haunt them – and us, unfortunately.

Aside from the revocation of the Iran deal, which dealt a major blow to the prospect of a calmer region, the appointment of David M. Friedman as our ambassador to Israel underscores the mentality of the Trumpians when it comes to the “special relationship”: craven appeasement of Bibi Netanyahu and his ultra-nationalist government. As Max Blumenthal points out, when Friedman was briefed on the Gaza massacre he said: “I don’t understand. The people in Gaza – they’re basically Egyptians. Why doesn’t Egypt take them back?”

Atlantic Council Lies Dashed “On the Rocks” in Syria

June 18, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

The Atlantic Council spearheads pro-war propaganda for US-NATO wars around the globe. This includes US-led hybrid warfare against Russia, the subversion and overthrow of the Ukrainian government in 2014 and the subsequent conflict that resulted, as well as America’s interventions in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria.

The Atlantic Council describes itself as:
…an essential forum for navigating the dramatic economic and political changes defining the twenty-first century by informing and galvanizing its uniquely influential network of global leaders. Through the papers we write, the ideas we generate, and the communities we build, the Council shapes policy choices and strategies to create a more secure and prosperous world.
